Happy Birthday Frank

Today is Frank's birthday! He is officially 35. He had a good birthday week. On Tuesday, I took him to see Flight of the Conchords in concert with our friends Todd and Kristi, then on Wednesday went down to the Ranch. Today is his actual birthday so I got up this morning and gave him his present first thing. I got him a Tusa dive bag for our trip and a gift certificate to race his car at Apex Driving Academy! Tonight I am cooking Lobster tails and Crab - his favorite. Happy Birthday Frank!!!

Palomino's

This past weekend Frank and I went to Palomino's in Dallas with our friends Todd, Kristi, Aaron and Tracie. We don't get to see them very often, but when we do, it is always a great time. In case you don't know, Todd and Kristi are our friends we met in Puerto Vallarta back in 2006. Aaron and Tracie are friends of Todd and Kristi that we met at their wedding in Tulum, Mexico. It's just too funny because we never meet friends local very often, let alone abroad, and we all hit it off so well.

Palominos was really good. I had a filet with cognac demi-sauce and a blue cheese risotto cake and for desert I had a Spanish coffee and crème brulee. At first I didn't like the Spanish coffee, but later that night and the next day I was actually craving it. I think it's normally served with coffee, but this one was just liquor served in a brandy style glass with a sugared rim. It consisted of Tia Maria, Bacardi 151, and Meyer's Rum. It was so strong, but so good.

Good times. Here are some pics. I wish I had got a picture of Aaron and Tracie together (sorry guys).

People Suprise Me

Last night Frank and I went out to dinner and then for some drinks. We went to Chadra for dinner and the same waitress served us from the last time we went 2 weeks ago. She remembered us and remembered what we wanted to drink. I don't know why but that just surprised me. Later, we went to Milo's and they had a huge Halloween party going on with a lot of people. We dressed up, but just in "going out" clothes, not costumes. When we got in there, the bouncer joked that we were going as a normal couple for Halloween. We were there for about an hour and a half. While we were there, a fight broke out. Someone threw a beer bottle at the bar. Not sure if they were aiming for the bartender, but yikes. No punches were thrown, but it got very heated. So after things cooled down, we went to leave the bar. Even after all of that drama that the bouncer was involved with, he shook Frank's hand and said "Good Night Mr. Kirk" and then patted me on the back and said "Good Night Amanda". Who remembers people's names when hundreds of people are coming and going and drama going on? I was impressed. That is why I say people surprise me.

On a side note, at Milo's, I sat down on a stool across from the bar and waited on Frank to get our drinks. Some dude actually tried to pick me up...lol! The sad part was that he was , by far, the nerdiest person in the bar (and he wasn't even in costume). Ha! Later, Frank went to the restroom and another guy, who can best be described as Cedrick the Entertainer’s twin brother, hit on me. Freaking hilarious. So yeah...

Houston Trip

I was an idiot and forgot my camera so this will be a rather boring trip report. Frank and I went to Houston this weekend to visit his sister and her family. His dad ended up being there to visit as well. It was a quick trip, but was nice to see everyone. Frank took the boys out on Saturday to buy toys and video games while his sister and I went to get pedicures and go shopping. We all went out to dinner Saturday night and left around lunchtime today to come home.

Our nephew Mikey, the ham of the family (next to Uncle Frank) picks up on everything he hears or sees and makes it his own. For example...Frank made the mistake of exposing the boys to "Business Time" by Flight of the Conchords (Click here if you have not see this yet) while showing his sister. So all weekend Mikey (8 years old mind you) walked around singing "it's business time, it's business time" and telling everyone "business hours are over baby" whenever they would leave a store or go to bed. Mikey also told us how his teacher makes him sign a red book when he gets in trouble, so Frank told him to tell his teacher next time she makes him sign the book, that "I wrote the red book"...and I am 200% sure he is going to actually do it. AND another piece of wisdom Frank passed on was for Mikey to write his teacher's name in the red book instead of his own. His poor mom. LOL!

Driving around Houston, you could still see a lot of damage from Hurricane Ike. There were piles of debris in front of almost every house awaiting pick up and several houses with blue tarps where there was roof damage. When Frank took the boys out on Saturday, they tried to go to Toys R' Us and they were still closed due to storm damage. We also tried a couple of different restaurants on Saturday night only to find they were also still closed. We ended up at Churrasco's. I had never heard of it before, and it was really good.

Anniversary Update

Frank did good...very good. Not only did I get beautiful flowers at work with chocolates yesterday, he got me a beautiful triple strand pearl necklace similar to the one pictured above. He got me pearl earrings for Valentines, so he wanted to get me a necklace to match. That was so thoughtful of him. I told him I was sorry I didn't get him a pearl necklace too. Ha! :)

Disney World and Epcot Dive Quest Pictures

As promised and out of order...here are the pics from Disney World and Frank's Dive Quest adventure. We stayed at Disney's Contemporary Resort and in addition to going to the parks, Frank did Epcot's Dive Quest at the Living Seas aquarium. It was pretty cool because while the group was diving everyone could watch them from insude the restaurant and the exhibit.
